I am a senior member of the IEEE and a designated Professional Engineer in Ontario. I hold a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering, Kuwait University, a Masters of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, University of Waterloo. I also hold an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University.
My main research interests lie in the areas of Technology adoption as related to e-Commerce, m-Commerce & e-health, human computer interaction, Neuro-IS and human-centric decision support systems. I have a successful track record of securing research funding from federal, provincial and private sector organizations. This funding has been used to mount a successful research program in the above areas involving collaboration with colleagues and graduate students. My research activities in the above areas have resulted in over 80 publications in academic journals, peer-reviewed conference proceedings and book chapters to date.
At the DeGroote School of Business, my teaching career has focused on offering MBA level courses on Management Information Systems, e-Business Strategies, and Decision Support Systems. I am a strong believer in the value of learning through business case studies and have incorporated them as learning vehicles in most of my courses. I have also coached several award winning McMaster case competition teams and was the co-director of the annual McMaster eCase Competition. I have also been active in supervising graduate students at McMaster as well as at the universities of Guelph and Waterloo.I am also active in terms of academic service within the Information Systems community where I am currently serving as a senior editor, associate editor or editorial board member with several academic journals in the information systems field. I have also served on the executive committees of several international electronic business and mobile business conferences and as the chair for the information systems division of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC) in 2006/2007.
Prior to joining McMaster, I was a Senior Research Associate with NCR‘s Payments Solutions division in Waterloo, Ontario. There I led several advanced development projects related to the automated processing of financial documents, and the data warehousing and mining of financial transaction data.
